Orangetheory + UHCC partnership

As part of a partnership with Orangetheory Fitness for their Transformation Challenge, the Body Composition Lab welcomed participants for InBody (bioelectrical impedance analysis) scans to measure starting body-fat percentages.

Event summary

In the first week of February 2022, a total of 175 individuals came into the lab for their scan. Each visit lasted approximately 5–10 minutes and proceeded smoothly throughout the day.

Health & safety protocols

The lab maintained consistent COVID-19 safety measures, including:

  • Proof of vaccination requirement for entry
  • Self-reported symptom checks
  • Temperature screening
  • Thorough sanitization between subjects

Participants are expected to return for follow-up scans at the challenge’s conclusion to measure their progress.

About the InBody test

The InBody test sends a low electrical current to measure lean mass and fat mass in each body segment, which is effective in formulating an appropriate diet and exercise plan.

About the Body Composition Lab

The Body Composition Lab at the University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center offers tests measuring body composition, exercise physiology, energy, and metabolism. Services support research within the Shepherd Research Lab and are available to the general public.
