
Sixteen STEM doctoral students at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa received recognition for outstanding research accomplishments. Alika Maunakea from the John A. Burns School of Medicine earned the 2024 Scientist of the Year award for his contributions to epigenetics research.
Among the honored scholars was Arianna Bunnell, studying computer and information science. Her research focuses on “Developing AI-equipped ultrasound devices for breast cancer screening.”
