What is 3D optical scanning?

3D optical scanning captures your body shape and automatically extracts circumference and length measurements (waist, hip, chest, thigh) across the entire body. The result is a detailed full 3D image that lets you visualize body shape and track fitness progress over time.

Shape Up! uses several scanning platforms:

How to prepare

Wear form-fitting clothing — single-layer compression shorts without padding, plus a sports bra (for women) — to achieve an accurate body-shape representation.

What to expect

You stand in the scanning area while cameras capture your body from all angles. Infants who can’t stand are placed in a clear crib. The captured images combine into a 3D avatar that researchers refine and standardize to estimate body circumferences, fat content, and muscle content.
