MRI scan

The MRI scan is part of the Shape Up! Adults protocol only.

What is an MRI scan?

MRI — magnetic resonance imaging — uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of organs and tissues inside the body. It’s non-invasive and painless.

What to expect

It’s important to stay still during the scan — any movement disrupts the images, like a camera trying to photograph a moving subject. Loud clanging noises will come from the scanner — perfectly normal. At certain points the technologist may ask you to hold your breath briefly.

We capture brain, body, and whole-body composite scans depending on the study protocol.
